Gifu 2005 was a legendary World Championship, the first to be held in Asia. There were nail-biting finishes by the Slovenians in the M2x and the Germans in the LW2x, and the organisation at the regatta course in Nagaragawa, less than three hours west of Tokyo by Shinkansen, was perfect. But it’s not just the races that are exciting, it’s also Japanese design, think calligraphy, manga or the Bauhaus style of the post-war period. Our interpretation is a striking high-visibility design that doesn’t get lost in the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, but still has style.
